New Boat Named for Julia
"The Julia Burke" is one of the fastest boats made today
and was undefeated its first season. It was funded by donors to the
Julia Burke Memorial Fund at the Oakland Strokes, and our Foundation.
Julia Burke Memorial Trophy
Pictured below is the memorial trophy for the US Southwest Rowing Championships,
donated by the Oakland Strokes.
The Oakland Strokes rowing club, for which Julia was a coxswain,
established The Julia Burke Trophy, which is presented to the club that has
the winning junior varsity 8-man boat at the US Rowing Southwest Regional
Junior Championships held in May of each year. The recipients of this perpetual
trophy have been:

The Foundation has awarded a grant to the nationally prominent Oakland
Strokes Rowing Club to help secure a permanent boathouse for its 160 male and female
high school rowers from schools throughout in the San Francisco East Bay Area.
We have also been pleased to support rowing activities at Michigan
State University, Amherst College, in Massachusetts, and Mercyhurst College,
in Pennsylvania.
